The Crown Hotel is situated in the beautiful Ribble Valley, right on the riverbank, at the foot of Pen-y-ghent and is one of few hotels in the Yorkshire Dales National Park which actually stand on The Pennine Way.
We are centrally located amid the Yorkshire Three Peaks: Pen-y-Ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside.
Surrounded by the finest walking and mountain biking country anywhere in England, this popular, affordable hotel accommodation has everything a tired traveller needs; friendly hosts, traditional food, and comfy beds. A local-area baggage transfer service is available for guests at a small fee, please ask for details.
On The Pennine Way, just a few miles from where the A65 passes through Settle, and only a four-minute walk from Horton-in-Ribblesdale railway station on the Leeds, Settle to Carlisle railway line, The Crown Inn Hotel is easy to reach on foot, by bike, car and train. (The river Ribble is a little too shallow and wild here:)

In spring, summer and autumn The Crown comes alive, as many travellers visit us for drinks, food and shelter. There is a large attractive beer garden with a stunning view of Pen-y-ghent at the rear. This rural hotel accommodation is popular with those attempting the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge. (all 3 within 12 hours) During the winter months the bar is particularly cosy, as our log fire gives off a warm welcoming glow.
The limited number of rooms in Horton-in-Ribblesdale are in demand most weekends, and we advise you to book well in advance. Our regular guests tend to book their next visit upon departure. One of our ground floor bedrooms has been adapted for disabled guests and has full wheelchair access.
Now under new ownership, The Crown Inn’s refurbished lounge bar has award-winning cask ales such as Black Sheep, Old Peculiar and guest beers. We also have been awarded the important Cask-Marque.
Your friendly hosts, Sandra and Thomas Millman are looking forward to welcoming you at The Crown Inn.
“We are not a 5-star boutique hotel with white bed linen, we are a small, cosy, and clean country inn hotel, that aims to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. We serve good quality home-cooked food, locally sourced when possible, with a good range of well-kept beers.”
**From early March until the end of October, weekend bookings must be for a minimum of two nights.**
